This Yojana was introduced on 1 July 2015 by Mr. Narendra Modi Prime minister of India. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) will be to ensure access to some means of protective irrigation to all agricultural farms in the country, to produce ‘per drop more crop’. OBJECTIVES:
- The main objective is to achieve convergence of investments in irrigation at the field level.
- This scheme increases the physical access of water on the farm and expands the cultivable area under assured irrigation (Har Khet ko pani).
- Integration of water source, distribution, and its efficient use, to make the best use of water through appropriate technologies and practices.
- This Yojana enhances the adoption of precision – irrigation and other water-saving technologies (More crop per drop).
- It enhances recharge of aquifers and introduces sustainable water conservation practices.
- This scheme ensures the integrated development of rainfed areas using the watershed approach towards soil as well as water conservation, regeneration of ground water and other NRM activities.
- PMKSY promotes the water harvesting, water management and crop alignment for farmers as well as grass root level field functionaries.
- It explores the feasibility of reusing treated municipal waste water for peri – urban agriculture.
- They try to attract greater private investments in irrigation.
